I Took the PL-300: Here's What Helped Me Pass
What I did (and didn’t do) to prep, and what actually helped on exam day
When I first started thinking about taking the PL-300, I wasn’t even sure if I’d pass.
Why bother, right?
It wasn’t a job requirement, I wasn’t using Power BI every day, and the way people online talked about it made it sound like the kind of exam that chews you up and spits you out.
I was more than intimidated.
But I was still interested in pursuing it. I wanted the certification.
My team had started talking about switching from an older BI tool to Power BI (finally!), and I figured this was a good way to get a refresher using the tool and challenge myself a little, too.
Still, I knew this wasn’t the kind of exam you could pass just by using Power BI for a few personal projects (which was my experience with it up until that point).
So I made sure to give myself enough time to review, practice, and apply what I was learning.
If you’re interested in getting the PL-300 or maybe you’ve already booked your exam date, you might be wondering:
What does the PL-300 actually look like?
Is the Microsoft Learn content enough?
Do you need to use Power BI every day to pass?
How do you know when you’re ready?
I had the exact same questions, so I wrote a post about it! I wanted to share my experience and what I learned throughout the process. I wrote about how I prepped, what I skipped, and what helped me stay calm(ish) on exam day.
